We are BACnet
PolarSoft has been involved with BACnet from the very beginning. Since its inception in 1987, PolarSoft's founders have been very active in the ongoing design and development of the BACnet standard, as a voting member of the standing committee SSPC 135 until July 2000, and our involvement continues as active committee members today. We have participated in every aspect of BACnet's development including the authoring of a large portion of the actual text of the standard. This experience gives us a deep and detailed understanding of BACnet.

We are the largest independent supplier of BACnet software products worldwide.

In 1993, the NIST BACnet Interoperability Testing Consortium. NIST enlisted PolarSoft's help in designing and implementing prototypes of testing and diagnostic software for verifying the performance of BACnet implementations by the consortium and to prove the robustness of the standard itself.

In 1995, ASHRAE contracted PolarSoft to develop the multimedia BACnetCD which is a CD-ROM version of the BACnet standard including searching and hyperlinking and various other enhancements that greatly improve the usability of the standard for developers and serious specifiers. This highly successful electronic publication is now in its third edition, also developed for ASHRAE by PolarSoft.

Also in 1995, we developed the ASHRAE short course "Introduction to BACnet" and have given this class many times for hundreds of interested professionals. This course was so successful, that ASHRAE asked us to develop a second, more detailed, Professional Development Seminar (PDS) dedicated to specifiers called "Understanding and Specifying BACnet Systems." This PDS has been taught for several years with great success.

For several years, David Fisher taught an intensive four day seminar on BACnet with Steve Bushby of NIST, for the University of Wisconsin's Department of Engineering Professional Development.

Today, PolarSoft offers a wide range of tools and software, as well as consultation services for BACnet developers and vendors. It is safe to say that you can't find any better BACnet expertise anywhere in the world. We continue to lead the way in BACnet training, tools and innovative products.
